Welcome Back, PreK through 2nd Grade Students!

Dear DES Families,

I am so excited that we will have our PreKindergarten and Kindergarten students returning to the building on Monday, October 5. Our first and second grade students will return on Thursday, October 8. With some students returning to the building, some changes had to be made to the schedule and were shared earlier this week by Dr. Saelens, Superintendent of Schools. I hope you read through these changes and understand them.

The DES schedule has some changes as well. Many teachers have posted the times for classes in their Google Classrooms. If you have not seen the changes, the current schedules are attached below. There may be some minor tweaks but there should not be anything major.

The DES PTA has secured water bottles so that each student will get one when they arrive. These can be refilled in the classroom sinks. If you would like to send in your child’s other water bottle, that is fine. Thanks to DriveTrain of Denton for this wonderful donation! We so appreciate their support!

Thank you to the entire DES Family for all your work thus far! I know how challenging this is for parents, our students and our teachers, but you continue to be positive and support one another. Know that the DES staff is ready for some of our students to return to the building this week! We have cleaning protocols in place and are using specific hallways for limited groups of students (see below). We will continue to modify our protocols as needed to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff.

As always, if you have any questions, please email or call me or Mr. Breedlove. Looking forward to a great week!

Stay Strong and SWIM On!

Blessings to you and your family,

Susan R. McCandless
